Drive I/O Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us at Drive I/O. This privacy policy explains how we collect, store, and manage your data when you use our app as a Chrome extension or as a Google Workspace Add-on.

Data We Collect

We collect and store the names and IDs of files and folders you manage using the app. This information is necessary for history tracking and service functionality. These values are not encrypted in our database. We also collect your email, first name (optional), last name (optional), institution that you work at, and occupation. All of this data is encrypted in our database and cache.

Personal Data Collection and Encryption

We collect and encrypt the following personal information: your email address, first name, last name, occupation, and institution. Data in our database is encrypted using AEAD AES-256-CBC encryption algorithm, and data in our cache is encrypted using AES-256 encryption to protect your privacy.

User Identification and Security

To prevent abuse of our free trial offers, we retain an encrypted copy of user email addresses for fraud prevention and to identify repeat sign-ups. If you wish to have your encrypted email permanently removed from this security list, you may submit a request to gtorion@driveio.io.

Google Account Access

Drive I/O requires access to your Google Drive account only for the specific operations you authorize (copying folders and modifying permissions). We do not access or retain other unrelated Google account data.

Data Use

Collected data is used solely to provide and improve Drive I/O functionality. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

Data Retention

File and folder names and IDs associated with your folder copying and bulk permission removal jobs are stored in our database. Accounts with an expired free trial and no active subscription are considered inactive and subject to automatic deletion. Upon account closure or manual deletion—which you can perform on the account page of the Drive I/O landing page or via the settings tab in the Drive I/O Chrome extension—we permanently purge all job history, folder metadata, and personal details from our database. We retain only encrypted email hashes for trial-abuse prevention unless a specific deletion request is sent to gtorion@driveio.io, which we will process within 30 days.

Data Security

We use AEAD AES-256-CBC encryption algorithm for database storage and AES-256 encryption for cache storage to protect all private user data including email, first name, last name, occupation, and institution. File names and IDs are not encrypted but are protected using standard security measures.

User Control

You have the right to permanently delete your account and all associated data through the settings page on our landing page, the settings tab in the Chrome extension, or by emailing a deletion request to gtorion@driveio.io. Once a request is received, we will finalize the permanent purge of your records from our databases and cache within 30 days.

AI Integration Notice

If AI features are added in the future, users will receive notice and consent options regarding their data usage.

Policy Updates

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to comply with new requirements or reflect changes in our practices.

Google Workspace Add-on Disclosure

The following disclosure applies specifically to the Google Workspace Add-on version of Drive I/O available via the Google Marketplace. To facilitate high-speed folder operations and secure subscription management, this application utilizes the script.external_request scope to communicate with our dedicated backend infrastructure. This connection is strictly used to transmit the necessary folder metadata required for duplication, process the removal of user permissions, and facilitate account provisioning using your authorized access token. Furthermore, this scope enables the integration of Stripe, our third-party payment processor, by allowing the application to securely initiate checkout sessions and verify subscription status. We do not store your Google access tokens on our permanent database, and all data transmitted via these external requests is encrypted and used solely to execute the specific tasks you initiate within the interface.
